So, today I unpacked my comforter set to put in my bedroom (my husband is coming home soon, so I guess I cant get away with sleeping on the couch with a throw blanket anymore) and I realized that the two pillow shams had some water stains. So with those, along with the bed skirt I never used, I decided to make some homemade art for above my bed.

Its not amazing, but I tried! Tell me what you think:

so like i said i built a bookshelf this weekend. spent about 80$ on all the materials it's made of pine and stained with miniwax water based wood stain in green tea. i love it.

the books are not organized yet nor is this the way it will continue to look. this is a more it took me all weekend to put this shit together books get off my floor. and the dvds on the bottom shelf will be moving to their new home soon. I will however think twice about using stain again. or at least stain the wood BEFORE I put it all together.

Finally after living in my apartment for almost a year, i have achieved a state of immense love for my room. this is the longest i've gone with out rearranging my bedroom and i don't intend to anytime soon because i love the set up sooo much. i'm one of those people who hate having a tv or computer in their bedroom, because it's the "bedroom" and i have finally succeeded!!

oh yeah i'm also your new mod, so lets get this community rolling :)

I'm on an organization kick lately. Do any of you have any inspirational photos or sites that you like to look at?

So if you don't remember me here is my first post. but now I have returned to show you some of the things I have been slowly working on for my bathroom.
Now I'm not able to do any painting or re-wallpapering in my apartment. So I make do with the colors as they are.

I started with this wood shelf. It reminds me of the coliseum in Rome. Anyways it had been beat up pretty badly soo I decided to paint it. My reasoning behind painting everything black? I like it better that way and I won't be renting forever. The paint is left over from painting my kitchen table and chairs.

I've been painting my kitchen in little bits for the last million years, and I'm finally done, or as close to done as I ever will be. What's thrifty about this is not only the decor, but the entire apartment: My boyfriend and I live in a basement apartment in Seattle, where the low ceilings and tiny windows get us a low rent. As we're mostly underground, please forgive the flash in some of the pictures -- we can't get any more light! Anyway, because of the low light levels, we decided to go for some really bright paint colors to make the place look less dingy. It'll probably look really cheerful to some, and maybe obnoxious to others. So, without further ado, my kitchen.

I recently moved some furniture around, so I cleaned up really well and took some pictures. The walls are pretty bare; the previous furniture arrangement didn't allow for much open wall space. I have TONS of artwork I want to put up now; time will tell if I actually do or not.

In the meantime, come on in!Collapse )

Is anyone else interested in being a mod? Just reply with who you are and a quick blurb about why you'd like to be a mod and I'll appoint someone in a few days.

I want to make this community more active and I'd love some help!

Long story short, I really like those WWII British propaganda posters that say "keep calm and carry on" (here's an example). You can order them but they're like...10 pounds and you need to order them online etc etc. Too much trouble and money for me, so I made my own version, printed it on construction paper and framed it with a 2$ frame from Dollarama.
The result...Collapse )
