Thrifted, gifted, and scavenged
Various corners of my house, all gleaned from thrift shops, estate sales, trash pickings, and church rummage sales.

I hope you like it!
New legs (and life) for our Karlstad
The only new things in this photo are the sofa and shelving units.

Everything in this photo is thrifted except for the rug and star burst mirror.

Tiki Lounge...my husband loved this 1950's shadow box mirror the day I brought it home from Salvation Army. We've finally found a home for it.

Collage made up from thrifted and scavenged mirrors. We keep adding to it whenever we find interesting pieces.

Great scores here from Salvation Army: the credenza was 20.00. The chair around 40.00.

Your pictures prove what I already knew. Pick a theme, be patient, look around and keep your eyes open and you can have a great looking place without spending a fortune. :o) I love how the pillow on the cream coloured chair matches the ones with the circle pattern and the two similar-but-different starburst mirrors on opposite walls and how light and fresh all those midcentury modern pieces look together.

You're right! And that's great advice for people who want to decorate on the cheap: patience and stay true to your vision. There's so much stuff out there, something you want will eventually come your way. :)

Looks awesome, but I have to say that the white rug and sofa would make me super nervous!
ehy2k: oh really?ehy2k on May 18th, 2011 03:07 pm (UTC)
I'll admit that I had second thought about using white furniture. But nervous? Never! It's an IKEA sofa, and the covers can be washed, or replaced for cheap. The rug is wool and seems to repel dirt (and we have three mucky cats). A good shake out a couple times per month keeps it fresh and bright. :)

Thanks! It's been with me for a few years now. It always seems to fit, no matter what decor I have going on. :)

Wow! Very cohesive style, hard to do with thrift. I love the Tiki Lounge picture, so many colors and patterns.
